5 burn units to be set up across the country: Health Minister

Rajshahi: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen said that a total of 5 burn units will be started across the country, including one in Rajshahi Medical College. If these units are started, people will be greatly benefited.

Regarding unapproved hospitals, the health minister said that no hospital can operate without complying with the prerequisites. Because no hospital will ever be approved without having everything necessary to perform an operation. If an accident occurs while performing an operation there, the responsibility of the hospital authority and the concerned doctor will have to be taken.

Earlier, the Health Minister visited various units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He expressed satisfaction that the hospital was cleaner than other medical college hospitals.

Stating that like other medical college hospitals, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital also has to take care of the patients from the floor, the health minister said that it is not possible to solve this problem at once. Until we are able to bring treatment to the doorsteps of marginalized people, patient pressure in medical college hospitals will not reduce. However, we are trying to improve the country’s medical services even if we cannot improve them 100%.

He said, there is a district hospital in Rajshahi, which is lying empty. We will try to make it work. If that is the case, the pressure on this hospital will be reduced to some extent.

Referring to the shortage of manpower in the hospitals, the health minister said, we are also working on the shortage of manpower. But the manpower crisis will be solved very soon.

Despite the shortage of doctors, many doctors have been kept on OSD, what is the government’s action in this regard? In response to the question of the journalists, the minister said that it will be resolved very soon, we are working on it.

In the exchange meeting, Vice Chancellor of Ramebi, Directors, Principals and Heads of Departments of Rajshahi, Naogaon, Bogra, Pabna and Sirajganj Medical Colleges highlighted various problems of their respective institutions. The minister listened attentively to the existing problems of various institutions and assured to solve them in a phased manner.

It was informed in the discussion meeting that a new ICU has been opened in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. An average of 4 thousand 475 patients are treated daily in the outpatient department of this hospital. An average of 138 patients are operated every day.

State Minister of Health Dr. Rokeya Sultana, Director of Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital Brigadier General FM Shamim Ahmed, Principal of the Medical College Naushad Ali and other senior officials of the hospital were present.
